OVERVIEW

Teacher education refers to the policies and procedures designed to equip prospective teachers with the knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and skills they require to perform their tasks effectively in the classroom, school and wider community. Although ideally it should be conceived of, and organised as, a seamless continuum, teacher education is often divided into these stages Which is below initial teacher training / education (a pre-service course before entering the classroom as a fully responsible teacher); induction (the process of providing training and support during the first few years of teaching or the first year in a particular school); teacher development or continuing professional development (CPD) (an in-service process for practicing teachers).

The Institute offers Diploma in Teacher Education (D.T.Ed) which imparts necessary skills and training to the teachers of the primary level education. The medium of Instruction is Tamil & English. Tamilnadu Council for Open and Distance Learning  is a Member organisation of “Indian Association of Teachers Educators (IATE)” and is actively working towards creating better teachers for the Future

CAREER PROSPECTS

Most teachers enjoy their work because it makes a difference in the lives of others; for many, the income is a secondary consideration. However, that doesn’t mean that it should be overlooked. Salaries vary widely between states and regions. Teachers can make different salaries depending upon whether they work in a private or public school, whether they teach summer school, what subject they teach, what kind of experience they have, the level they teach at, and the degree they hold

ELIGIBILITY: A Pass in 12th Standard in any recognized Board / Institution with 2 years of Teaching Experience
